The guidelines for gifts given to Guest Speakers also apply to visiting missionaries to the church.
Local Church Missionaries
When a person is sent overseas as a long-term missionary and is supported financially by the church they must be considered an employee of the church. The church should set up a sending agreement that outlines the amounts that would be provided for monthly salary and reimbursement for ministry expenses. Funds sent as monthly salary are subject to all payroll deductions.
At no time is the church to send monthly payments overseas to an individual or church that is not considered an employee of the church. In these situations a funding agreement should be established between the church and the recipient. Go to the Missions link below for more details.
