Update from Chad Isenhart of Foursquare Disaster Relief: Following the 7.3 earthquake in Iran, Foursquare Disaster Relief is responding through local partners to provide relief aid to those suffering. Please pray as these leaders reach out in this very difficult nation. #foursquarerelief The Foursquare Church
I spoke a while ago about having a hard time getting over my concept of a missionary life as no toilets and the amenities I imagine “needing”. And then I got older and a little wiser (but that might be debatable ;)and got to realizing that the “go into all the world” wasn’t a mandate NECESSARILY to our comforts… or lack thereof! It is a mandate to preach, teach and share Christ with our words and actions.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Ephesians 6 –our battle is not against flesh and blood. Our mission is to tell everyone, whether they seem “in comfort” or not.
So as I’ve alluded to before, our Canadian/American family of missionaries to Deutschland (Germany), the Brazees, are maybe not in much different surroundings than they would be in Canada or the USA (not to skim over the fact they have had a lot of cultural differences to get used to and I’m not saying that has all been a piece of cake by any means!) –but they have running water, they have food, they have shelter, etc. But just because the “comforts” are not so much missing, they really do need our prayers. Not so much prayers not to contract or die of typhoid or diphtheria (Hudson, their nearly 2 year old son, though, has had several illness since arriving in DE so please pray for his health as well as the entire family’s). They need prayers to overcome with the overcomer –Jesus!
They need prayers for their family and for Brandon’s and Marcie’s marriage to thrive against every fiery dart the devil can and will throw (Ephesians 6:16). They need your prayers as they continue to learn the language (even though they have come leaps and bounds and, as Marcie said in their most recent update, most of the conferences they attend as missionaries are all in German and in the 5 months they’ve been in Bühl they find themselves understanding more and more).
Please pray they continue to become more and more comfortable with not only their church and direct ministry, but neighbors and those around them. And speaking of neighbors, who are your neighbors? Literally. You might not be in Bühl or somewhere equally far away, but Jesus said to focus on Judea before we go to the ends of the earth. Who is your Judea, not just the opposite end of the world?
And if you would like to support the our missionaries at “the end of the earth” monthly or one time basis, please click on the following link: http://www.foursquare.ca/our-missionaries.html . Thanks in advance and auf wiedersehen (“good-bye” in German!).
Are you looking for a Foursquare Missions Initiative to get behind this Christmas in your ministries? Check out Project Nourish. Project Nourish has touched countless lives so far, feeding more than 25,000 people to date in East Africa, where 20 million people live on the brink of starvation.
The situation prompted The Foursquare Church to form Project Nourish this summer, with Foursquare Disaster Relief (FDR) implementing and overseeing the project. In addition to distributing food, FDR has handled assessments, planning, oversight, accountability and partnerships with other organizations.

Elizabeth Umana, Lead Pastor of Hope for Tomorrow Foursquare Church in Toronto and Foursquare GTA Unit Supervisor, together with her daughter Isabella will be going on mission to Estonia from November 8th to 14th. Estonia is a country in Northern, Baltic Region of Europe. Today it is one of the world's least religious countries and is a place where women in ministry leadership is extremely rare.
Elizabeth will be visiting 4 major cities in 6 days. During her time there she will be connecting with Estonian leaders within the Foursquare Family Fellowship, for the purposes of ministering, encouraging and introducing new leaders to the Foursquare Fellowship. Elizabeth has been working with Brett Toft, an elder with Foursquare Europe and overseer to Northern Baltic Region of Europe. Elizabeth and Brett are believing that our Global Foursquare family working together will contribute to the increase of the Foursquare Fellowship in Estonia, will lead to healthier leadership, multiplication of new churches, and eventually the nationalization of The Foursquare Gospel Church in Estonia.
John and Anneli Kelly, members of Hope For Tomorrow in Toronto have also been instrumental in the new things happening in Estonia!
Pastor Elizabeth shared that it would be a blessing to have others praying as they go and she also declares as they depart that "Jesus is in control!!"
Just under a year ago, Canadian Foursquare Missions was preparing for our Missions Mobilization conference that took place in Surrey, BC. The heart of this event was to see people develop a renewed interest in missions and to see people realize and respond to the calling to long term foreign missions. We are happy to report that much has been happening in that respect. The funny thing in it all is that it turns out that one of those people who have responded to the call to "go" is our very own Lana Davidson, who has been our National Missions Coordinator. I'll let her tell us the rest of the story here:
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as National Missions Coordinator for the past four years. I have so loved partnering with our Canadian Foursquare Churches. It has been so great to see even more of our churches mobilized to step out and partner in spreading the Gospel around the world!
Thank you to the amazing missions committee that has served so faithfully with such heart and passion! Thank you to the Unit Supervisors for their support in helping create missions momentum across our nation!
I am excited to step back into the field full-time as Riverside Church's missionary to Costa Rica starting in November. That will be followed by a wonderful new personal step for me in December as I am getting married. We both have hearts for missions, the Costa Rica Kids Program, evangelism, and discipleship. We look forward to seeing the new doors God will open before us!!
We will keep in touch through Facebook and would be very grateful for your prayers!
Thank you again!
So what happens moving forward? The current missions committee will continue to manage missions related details with assistance from our National Office. We will miss Lana being nearby but are rejoicing with her as she responds to God's call, accompanied by her soon to be husband, and embraces this next season in her life. We also look forward to her updates from the field and the new things God will do through them both.
