As Johanne was preparing for this trip. She took some time to share with us at Canadian Foursquare Missions the challenge of expressing the need in a European Country.
Here are her words on the topic:
"One of the barriers I have encountered as I have communicated my vision for this mission with people is the difficulty to express the need or the validity of the need in a First World Mission ground. Why do we need to raise funds for this? What is the need? Germany?
It was so simple when I went to Haiti, Cambodia or Costa Rica. The need is great, the dollar goes a long way, people need food and they are hungry for the Word of Life. There is often a very specific project like raising funds for food hampers, building a brick wall for orphans, and other felt needs.
I encountered the same thing to some degree when I went to the 2010 Olympics for a month in Vancouver. In fact, that was one of the most difficult trips I have ever been on.
To be honest we will be out of our “mission comfort zone” in a first world country. The need is still the same-Jesus Christ to change a heart, to change a nation."
What is the heart of the City Oasis team as they minister in this nation?
"Please engage people to pray for fruit, for deliverances, for souls. This country has many people groups in it and God will do remarkable things according to our faith!
I have been so impacted by the population number of 80,480,00 people in Germany. Also by the fact that a country is considered un-reached if there are only 2% considered Evangelical. Germany is barely over that percentage, so we can clearly see that God wants to raise up workers for Germany."
Join with us in prayer for the City Oasis team as they settle in and prepare for ministry in this area over the next two weeks. (See previous article from August 28, 2018 for more details.)
